What’s a Maldives holiday without spending some nights in a water villa?!
…Although we are traveling “backpacker” style, we could not miss out on that!
So we booked 3 nights in a Haven Villa at the Paradise Island Resort in the North Male Atoll and enjoyed them to the fullest. The villas are huge, equipped with everything you need and the best thing about them is definitely the view from the terrace and the direct access to the water. You can spend hours there just watching all the under water visitors passing by, like eagle rays, turtles, black tip sharks, sting rays, puffer fish, unicorn fish and lots of other reef fish.
A small reef is located in swimming distance from the villas and Brian spent hours snorkeling with the sharks and rays there.
Apart from that, the resort island offers almost every sports or water activity and the booking includes canoeing around the island. Perfect to fully relax and never get bored at the same time.
We had halfboard meals during our stay and were more than positively surprised by the buffet. From freshly grilled beef or tuna to delicious Indian or Continental food, a rich salad buffet and mouthwatering desserts and fruit…you could not wish for more! The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and attentive.
When finishing dinner, you can just enjoy watching numerous black tip sharks swimming their circles right beneath the Lagoon Restaurant terrace or walk along the water villas to spot many other sea creatures.
In our opinion, staying in a water villa is definitely worth it, especially if you enjoy getting in touch with sea life as we do!
