Our time in Waikiki started with two very familiar faces, waiting for us in front of the hotel – Sarah’s parents. They had been spending two weeks on the islands already and joined us for our first week here.
During the 7 days we spent on Oahu, we did not only stay in Honolulu but also rented a car for several days to visit the whole island. Apart from the famous spots like Waikiki Beach and the Diamond Head volcano, we spend relaxing beach days and enjoyed a beautiful sunset cruise, while Levi had lots of fun with his grandparents. All of us directly fell in love with Hawaiian food and we had Poke bowls and delicious Ahi Tuna almost every day.
We also took a shark snorkelling tour with One Ocean Diving. We had high expectations on this expensive tour and took the earliest one at 7 am. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the whole experience. We only saw a few sharks instead of 30 or 40 and the tour itself was very short.
The next flight brought us from Oahu to Kauai, the Garden Island. This name speaks for itself! Kauai is breathtaking with its huge green mountains, countless waterfalls, rainforest and turquoise blue waters. We stayed in a nice apartment in the South and explored the island with our rental car. The beach next to our apartment was very family friendly and we came here for the sunset almost every evening, as turtles come to rest and sleep here at night.
One of the best things you can do on Kauai is taking a scenic helicopter flight. Nadia and Sarah took the chance and enjoyed a 1 hour flight over the incredible and diverse island landscape. Words or pictures cannot do justice to the unbelievable beauty of Kauai. It is truly like entering directly into Jurassic Park or any other of the many movies filmed here.
Massimo and Brian enjoyed the beautiful coastline, mountain views and marine life on a very cool Catamaran Tour.
After these 5 days in paradise we took our flight to Maui.
