Australia Roadtrip – Part 1: Great Ocean Road to Sydney

0 2 Comments

Distance: ca. 1.670 km – Duration: 14 days

Our “Adventure Australia“ started in Melbourne, where we felt at home immediately and spent 3 beautiful days before getting our campervan. We stayed in a simple hostel in St. Kilda and visited Melbourne city centre with its beautiful library, the Federation Square, the Queen Victoria Market, great street art spots and St.Kilda beach with its cute little penguins.

When we got the van, we made our way to the Great Ocean Road. Definitely a must-do! We where amazed by the countless beautiful views, the beautiful landscape full of all kind of wildlife and the iconics spots like the Twelve Apostels and the Bay of Islands. We even got the chance to spot kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and many more in the wild.

On our further way through Melbourne heading up the East Coast towards Sydney, we stopped at the following points: Phillip Island and Wilsons Promontory, where we could spot more incredible wildlife, Metung and Mallacoota with beautiful lake views and fishing spots and Jervis Bay, where we sank our feet into the stunning white sand beaches.

When we reached Sydney, we checked in on a campsite in nearby Rockdale for 2 nights and went straight to one of Australia’s most known sights: the Sydney Harbour with the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. During our time in the city we made our way around the Circular Quay, strolled through “The Rocks” and the Royal Botanic Garden, crossed the Harbour Bridge to enjoy the gorgeous view and visited the famous Bondi Beach.
