Kananaskis Country, Yoho National Park and the Okanagan Valley – Our route back to Vancouver

We continued our way towards Radium Hot Springs, a city that lies inside a beautiful valley next to the Kananaskis Provincial Park. The small town is known for its natural hot springs and a herd of Big Horn sheep roaming around. We got the chance to see them multiple times inside the city and near the campground. On our way there, Nadia and Massimo spotted a Grizzly Bear right beside the highway.

There are several hikes around Radium and we did one that took us up the hills and to the Hot Springs. As a reward, the three of us took a soothing bath when we reached our destination. After two nights we made our way through the Provincial Park and explored the different view points, always looking for wildlife. We were not lucky this time.

Our next stop was Yoho National Park, home of one of Canada’s highest waterfalls and the Emerald Lake. We were surprised by a small black bear crossing the highway right in front of us, when driving to the Wapta Falls trailhead. Unfortunately, it was too fast to take any pictures.

Our route took us through the Glacier National Park and Revelstoke to Hope. The small town is known as movie set for “Rambo – First Blood”.  We strolled around in the city centre, visiting several spots out o the movie and spend one night here. As we wanted to take another small hike on our last day with the RVs, we decided to go on the Kawkawa Creek Trail. It is an easy walk along a small creek over wooden bridges and through a calm forest. When Brian was taking a picture of a frog on the way, we looked back up and saw a black bear with her cubs coming towards us on the trail. Although this was exactly the wildlife experience we were looking for during the whole trip, we have to admit that we got slightly nervous. Luckily, we knew what to do, so we turned on our cameras and started walking backwards slowly. The bear made a few more steps, noticed our presence and calmly walked away.

After 7 amazing weeks in Canada we had to say goodbye to our RVs and hopped on our flight to Oahu, Hawaii.
