New adventures ahead

Canada – Hello from Vancouver

Brian’s parental leave finally started and we are now up for our next adventure together with little Levi. Two and a half months in Canada and Hawaii are lying ahead of us and we can’t wait to dive into travel mode again.

We will enjoy the whole trip together with Massimo, Nadia and little Mattia :).

Our adventure started in Vancouver, where we spent 6 days to balance the time difference and have a smooth start in Canada. We stayed in a cute Airbnb Coach House in a neighbourhood outside downtown and explored the whole city.

Vancouver offers a very nice waterfront, the beautiful Stanley Park, its cool aquarium and countless food choices from all over the world. We also visited the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) as it took place just around the corner and rode the well-known Aquabus to Granville Island, where we had to try the Pacific Oysters.

However, there is also a darker side of Vancouver, we did not expect to see so clear. The bus we took to the centre almost every day passed through the current “tent city” in downtown. The impression you get there is a mix of shock and pitty. Hundreds of tents are lined up on one of the main streets and people there are in a very bad shape, mostly suffering from drug abuse. You can actually just see them preparing their next shot open in public.

After this first stop we were all ready to head into Canada’s wild nature, so we picked up our RVs for the next 6 weeks and took the ferry to Vancouver Island…
