Shanghai – Last stop in China

We spent our last 5 days in China in Shanghai and flew there from Zhangjiajie directly. For us, it was the most “Western standard” city we visited and the easiest one to travel without speaking Chinese. We saw way more foreigners here than in the other cities.

Shanghai is a very cool place to spend some nice days in a huge city. The skyline is stunning at night and you can find all kinds of restaurants and shops there.

We mostly strolled around in the different districts and treated ourselves with lots of soup dumplings – the Shanghai regional specialty and definitely the best ones we tried in China by far!

If you’d ask us what we think about China, we’d probably say the following: It is a country with a very rich, ancient culture, lots of interesting places to visit, stunning landscapes and great food. The people were always very helpful and communication was not an issue. Although most of them do not speak any English, translation apps and picture pointing do the basic job to get everything you need. Society rules and the daily way of life however are totally different to ours and somehow a little hard to get used to.
