Zambia – Hello Victoria Falls!

0 2 Comments

For the last safari days we crossed over to Zambia to visit one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World: the Victoria Falls. You can visit the falls in two countries, Zambia and Zimbabwe, but we mainly did it from the Zambian side.

They form the world’s largest sheet of falling water with a width of 1.708 metres and a height of 108 metres.

The feeling you get when seeing and hearing so much water rushing into the deep is incredible. The Africans call their falls “Mosi oa Tunya – the smoke that thunders”, as the falls’ spray can be seen from up to 20 or 30 km away at various times of the year. The closest you can get to the falls is by crossing the Knife Edge Bridge, where the spray leaves you soaking wet in a matter of seconds, just like pouring rain. Absolutely awesome!

This was also the place where we had to say goodbye to our friends 😔, before heading to the next destination: Mauritius.
